Loud pipes annoy townies apparently.  The city of Myrtle Beach, SC is now making a point of trying to eliminate the two rallies that happen within city limits each May.  City sources say that hundreds of thousands of bikers descend down like locusts and, “They bring three weeks of noise, congestion, reckless driving, crime, nudity, lewdness, rudeness, litter, wrecks, fatalities - they are overwhelming our capacity to deal with them.”  (more…)

Word an ‘issue’ surrounding the BMW high-tech electronic key verification system has been percolating on the intranets of for nearly as long as the system has been out.  It ‘issue’ seems to strike randomly and without warning, strand the unsuspecting Beemer aficionado at the local Starbucks or on the road to Pruedoh Bay.  Nothing, it appeared, was being done to correct the issue, and some even opted to carry around a spare antenna (the part widely identified as the problem child) should the unlucky even happen to them.

Good news appears to be on the horizon though, at least according to one BMW dealer in the US.  MAX BMW base schizophrenically in both NY and NH has announced a massive recall (models and VINs above) to replace the little antenna buggers. (more…)

Hallelujah!  If you’re a motorsport enthusiast in America, all you’ve been fed to date is a big ‘ol Nascar sunday with perhaps Inianapolis 500 cherry on top.   That, later this year, is going to come to a screetching hault.  The broadcast rights holder for MotoGP, Dorna Sports, announced today that yes indeed, MotoGP is coming to that wonderful box of enterntainment we just happen to call TV. When you’re talking about the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, you’re talking about MotoGP.  Every bike competing in the series is a custom built jobby that you can’t purchase off of ant showroom floor.  The league has roots thatspan back to 1949, and in this season it’s divided into three different classes:

• MotoGP - Up to 800cc
• GP 250 - Up to 250cc
• GP 125 - Up to 125cc

Next season though, that’s going to change a bit.  (more…)
