See this guy above? His name is Boris Johnson, and he’s the new mayor of London. He managed to defeat the former mayor of London, “Red” Ken Livingston, based paritially upon a platform of motoring reform in the city. One plank of that platform is allowing motorcyclists into the bus lanes. He, it appears, is changing his mind though…
In an interview due to appear in the August/September issue of London Cyclist, Johnson now is stating that “further consultation must happen before motorcycles can legally use Transport for London’s bus lanes” and that he “will listen very carefully to the different views expressed on this proposal”. Boo to that.
But hope is at hand - MCN is starting a petition for motorcyclists to sign letting Boris know that we indeed want to share the bus lanes. The goal is to, “heap pressure on Johnson by demanding he name the date that we can expect to use the capital’s bus lanes”.
You can sign the petition via email [ here ] or online right [ here ].
