Effective later this week, if you live in the great state of Florida and plan on picking up a motorcycle drivers license to go with your brandy new 2008 Hayabusa, you’ll have another hoop to jump through.
Under current law, only riders age 21 or younger were required to participate in the Florida Rider Training Program. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on who you ask, all riders regardless of age will now be required to participate in the program which consists of 12 hours total of instruction and costs a few hundred dollars. No word yet if any other states plan on copying Florida, but here in PA you can take the equivalent Motorcycle Safety Foundation course for free and obtain your license right at the end.
