Someone once said that everyone has to start somewhere, and I guess this is where I start.
My name is Robert Werksman, and I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was in my teens. When I was in college, I took a job to help me pay my way through school. That job was in the local BMW motorcycle shop - Heritage BMW. I worked there were approximately 4 years, doing basically anything they need to me to do. I ran the website, I sold motorcycles, I was a parts person, and I was even a repairman when needed. That job, to date, quite possibly is the best experience of my life and at very minimum, it introduced me to the wonderful world of motorcycling.
When I ended up graduating college, the first thing I did was go out and and buy a motorcycle. I actually have my motorcycle license since the age of 16, but up until that time I could never afford a motorcycle.
Looking back on I can honestly say that my first purchased motorcycle was slightly unconventional. Instead of starting out with something small, a 250 CC beater, it was quite a bit larger. What was the motorcycle? A nearly new BMW R1100RS, and yes, I ended up dropping it on the first real ride that I was ever on.
From there, it’s been a litany of motorcycles ranging from cruisers to sport bikes to touring machines to collectibles. I even ended up purchasing my favorite motorcycle of all time, a BMW K1. This year, I’ve put a whopping total a 5 miles on it.
Roughly 3 years ago I became so interested in motorcycle and I ended up starting a website for it and is probably the most of you end up finding this one. That website, F800Riders.org, eventually expanded into a corresponding store named F800 Depot, and two additional websites (S1000Riders.org and G450Riders.org) to complement it. After having launched those websites, the experience of running them has naturally led me here.
The goal for this website - my first ever true weblog - is to become nothing less than the premier weblog on the Internet for motorcycling. The model? Autoblog.com, and if we’re half as good here, we’ll definitely be something special. So, without any further ado, let the blog entries begin.
